I cannot believe I have never written about dermaplaning. I’ve been getting this treatment done for at least five years and it continues to be one of my all time favorites.
No joke, ever single time I have this little procedure done I get compliments on how my skin looks the very next day. So, what is dermaplaning? In simple terms, basically shaving your face. In prettier terms, it’s a skin care treatment that removes all those dead skin cells and hair (peach fuzz) from your face. Your esthetician uses a small, sterile blade and gently swipes across your skin in gentle motions while holding your skin taut. It might seem scary that someone is taking a blade to your face, but trust me, it doesn’t hurt and I’ve never left bleeding. The whole treatment takes under 30 minutes and you’re off. It’s always important to wear sunscreen when you leave your appointment (or anytime, really). You’ll want to constantly touch your face because it’s smooth like butter, but try to resist. Your face was literally just shaved, don’t be putting your fingers all over your face.
Why is dermaplaning amazing? It seriously leaves your skin not only smoother, but brighter. You absolutely glow after this treatment! It helps with texture and tone and even helps with minimizing wrinkles and dark spots. It’s the queen of exfoliating. Bonus, it allows your skin creams and serums absorb better into the skin.
You can choose to do this service alone or typically it can be added on to a facial treatment. I’ve done it both ways. I obviously love to enjoy a facial along with dermaplaning, but sometimes I just have time for a quick dermaplaning session.
I love the ladies at the Life Time Fitness MediSpa (St. Louis Park and Eden Prairie Athletic) when I need a little dermaplaning action.
Have you tried it? Do you love it? If you haven’t, then you must!
