I gave up my salon gel manicures because:
1. I was going in once a week to maintain.
2. It was getting expensive.
3. My nails needed a serious break – they were almost see-through.
So, I started exploring the “at-home gel manicure” options. I tried three different ones. One expensive, another moderately priced and lastly, a drugstore version.
Honestly, out of the three, the Walgreen’s purchase was the best by far.
If you haven’t tried the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Color, then you better get on it.
My favorite colors are Birthday Suit (a nude) and Crème de la Crème (a baby pink). Both are shown below along with along with Rhapsody Red (the red didn’t seem to last as long as the others).
All you need are two coats of color and one coat of the top coat and you are set. The key is to put the top coat on while nails are still wet. I have waited until the color dried and the manicure didn’t last.
I get a full week of wear out of the polish. Sally Hansen says you should get up to 14 days of wear (if you don’t ever clean or get your hands wet, then maybe).
For a holiday look, I added a strip of gold glitter polish to the center of my nails. I used a toothpick and dipped it in the polish and drew the line.
Miracle Gel can be found at your local drugstore, Target and Ulta.
I highly recommend trying out this polish. Let me know what you think.
