Nearing the finish line of this cleanse! Yay!

Were there days I wanted to give up? Yes. Did I? Hella no.

So, today is day 6 and I was able to add back in grains and fish/seafood. I’ve followed this cleanse perfectly (well, except for my slight mishap today) and I feel amazing.


Day 1 – no refined sugars, caffeine, processed foods and no meat (fish and seafood allowed)
The first day felt like hell. I didn’t realize how much my body wanted sugar and caffeine. The headaches could take out a village. My energy was LOW. I couldn’t even workout – I know, crazy.

Day 2 – In addition to the eliminations from day 1, I also eliminated eggs and dairy (except for fat-free greek yogurt)
Again, headaches, nausea, bloating, low energy. The first two days were the absolute worst. I felt like I was STARVING and couldn’t wait to get my next “fix” (food). No workout for me this day either. Argh. Wanted to throw in the towel.

Day 3 – More eliminations for day 3 – no gluten grains or seafood/fish. One liquid smoothie or juice would replace one meal today.
I was feeling pretty good going into day 3. The headaches were going away, I was finding a little more energy (even without my coffee), and my cravings for sugar were subsiding. I know longer wanted to hurt someone for a Hershey bar. This cleanse wasn’t so bad after all. I even took a spin class!

Day 4 – The day I was DREADING. This would be the most mentally challenging day. Basically I could eat fruits, vegetables and legumes.
I bought party size fruit bowl and hit up the Lakewinds Co-op Deli for sautéed green beans and roasted yams. To my surprise, this day brought me tons of energy. I didn’t feel tired, I didn’t have a headache, I felt awesome. I took a cardio barre class. All is good.

Day 5 – Time to add back in some of the food that had been eliminated. I could have quinoa, greek yogurt, and nuts.
Good thing I stocked up on quinoa salad from Lakewinds, because that was lunch and dinner. I was still rockin’ the energy and saw my trainer for a butt-kickin’.

Day 6 – Adding a few more things back into the diet – gluten grains and seafood.
Although I did have an oops today. I made scrambled eggs because I thought I could have eggs today. Nope, that would be tomorrow. Oh well, if that’s my only mistake on this cleanse, I feel pretty good about it. I took a spin class and had some sushi. Still no sugar, and I’m totally okay with that. I even went to Cocoa & Fig to pick up a cupcakes to bring to my fam and I didn’t have one and didn’t feel like I missed out.

Dinner for day 6 was green beans and quinoa. Nom.

Tomorrow is day 7. I’m on the home stretch. I didn’t do this cleanse to lose weight, however, I am down 5 pounds. Of course it will go right back on if I go back to my old habits of consuming sugar. I will continue to keep sugar out of my diet for a while (of course a treat now and then won’t kill me). Oh, and I will allow myself that glass of red wine when the occasion calls for it.

I definitely recommend this cleanse. I feel great and I’m glad I stuck to it. Those first couple days were definitely trying, but well worth it. If you want to recharge, kill some cravings, and feel more energized, then this cleanse is for you.
