You’ve heard me talk about barre before. Now, that’s barre, not bar – big difference.
Barre is a full body sculpting workout that will have you shaking. It includes light weight and body weight strength training, isometric holds, core strengthening and in some of classes, cardio intervals. It gives the body long, lean and strong muscles. It’s inspired by ballet, pilates and yoga. (no dance experience needed, thankfully).
I’ve taken barre classes at several different studios in the cities. All studios have a little different twist or method – what they all have in common is that they leave me sore. It’s a good thing.
So, I’ve decided to take the Haute Challenge at Haute Barre. The goal is to take 28 classes in 6 weeks. It started Saturday, the 11th, but I’m joining in on Thursday. A little late to the game, but I’ll make up for it.
Listen, I’m in a beach wedding in May, so time is of the essence. I’ve already given up sugar, now it’s time to get this ass in gear with the workouts. I’m still taking my 3 spin classes a week, which was my January goal. My February goal will be to get my barre classes in during the week to make my 28 classes in 6 weeks! I can do it.
My motivation? Putting up a gold star on the attendance chart every time I take a class. Oh, and tightening up the ass! I’ll be taking some before and after measurements, so I’ll let you know if barre really does reshape the body.
Let’s hit the barre!
