Wow, can you believe it’s already November?
We all know what’s right around the corner….I’m ready to dive in! Are you with me?
As the days get shorter, the darkness moves in and the cold as hell days take over, it’s good to have some plans and goals in place. Trust me, it helps to have something else to focus on besides the twelve inches of snow outside.
So, if you aren’t a fan of winter sports, what do you do to keep sane in the winter?
Here are my suggestions:
Spin – get your sweat on in a juicy spin class. It’s an amazing workout and will burn some serious calories. I love my spin classes at Lifetime Fitness (Minnetonka & Uptown). Not a member? Try Surge Cycling (St. Louis Park), RealRyder (CorePower Yoga Highland Park), or TigerRide at Tiger Athletics (Plymouth).
If you aren’t a fan of cycling (I know some of you aren’t), then just commit to trying something new. Whether it’s a new crazy class at the gym (Insanity, Bodyshred), or a new routine on the treadmill (kick-ass tabatas). Change things up, get rid of the boredom.
Get in the kitchen and create a new dish. I definitely don’t know my way around the kitchen, but I feel so great when I cook up a new meal. Add that kale to your white chicken chili, make those gooey, flourless fudgy brownies (s0 tasty). Just do something different!
Take some time for yourself. Whether it’s just 10 minutes of meditation, cuddling up with a good book, or enjoying nice hot bath (with some lovely products from LUSH).
Get crafty. Grab a girlfriend or two and have a craft filled evening with wine and snacks. No, really Pinterest parties are a pretty big deal right now. Just pick a Pinterest craft or two, get the supplies, and have yourself a little partay! No worries, if the projects don’t turn out, you have your girlfriends and wine!
Have a little spa day. Maybe it’s just a pedicure, or perhaps it’s the full meal deal (facial, massage, mani, pedi). The spa is always the perfect pick-me-up. May I suggest the Minnetonka LifeSpa (at Lifetime Fitness), Fusion Life Spa (Deephaven) or if you are looking for a pretty amazing facial try Maggie at Complexions on Carter (St. Paul).
Or, mix a few of the above for my favorite fix for the winter blues – Grab a couple girlfriends, head to CorePower Yoga for a hot, sweaty, flowy yoga class, then shower up and head to happy hour or dinner. Now, to me that sounds like a perfect time. Workout, girlfriends, meditation, wine, and food!
See, winter doesn’t have to be so …. well, you know.
