The HydraFacial (Red Carpet Facial)

The HydraFacial (Red Carpet Facial)

lifespaI love the pampering and relaxing facials, but sometimes I need more results and less relaxation.

I would like to introduce you to the HydraFacial – also known as the “Red Carpet Facial”. I was lucky enough to experience this treatment at Minnetonka Lifetime Athletic MediSpa (Lifetime Fitness). The lovely Angie was my facial guru. Angie has a background in both spas and dermatology clinics and she makes sure to educate and customize to everyone’s lifestyle, budget, and skin type. Her goal is to give the experience of the spa while delivering result-oriented treatments, the best of both worlds. She really is amazing.

The HydraFacial is a four-step resurfacing procedure that thoroughly cares for your skin – providing cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, and hydration, including infusions of  antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. It’s is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure that delivers instant results with no discomfort or downtime. The procedure is immediately effective.

A breakdown of the steps include:

Step 1 – Done all over the face, a solution containing mainly lactic acid and glucosamine is infused into the skin This gives gentle exfoliation, hydration, and brightening.

Step 2 –  An appropriate peel is applied. There are three different levels from gentle to medical grade.

Step 3 – Extractions in congested areas or where needed, using a salicylic acid serum.

Step 4 – This step is the “hydra” in the HydraFacial. A large amount of hylauronic acid (amazing ingredient our skin needs and loves), antioxidants, and vitamins are infused into the skin. This is where you get your plumping up and brightening.

The whole process takes about 30 minutes and is best for anti-aging, lightening sun-damage, and excellent for acne! Ideally they are done in a series of 6 spaced out every week or so, then maintaining after as needed or monthly. Pricing varies – your first HydraFacial is $150 and if you purchase a package the pricing will be between $100-$200.

I highly recommend this treatment. It definitely brightened my skin and lightened some of my darker spots. The Minnetonka Life Spa is beautiful and is the perfect place for a spa day with the cozy fireplace, eucalyptus steam room and hot tub. You do not need to be a member of Lifetime Fitness to visit the spa. With any medispa, spa or salon appointment, you are granted the use of the club for the day, AND you can use their childcare service (up to two hours)! So, go ahead and treat yourself.

Here’s to great skin in 2013!

xoxo,

Jeanna
