transcendI admit, I used to love tanning beds. The darker the tan, the better, right?

Years of tanning left me with a face full of hyperpigmentation. Without any makeup, you would definitely notice my spots. It’s a concern for me, and I have used lightening serums, peels and facials to try to rid myself of these ugly little marks.

A handful of people told me to try the IPL laser treatment. So, I did.

I made a trip to Transcend Medi Spa. I knew I would be in good hands with Laurie, the owner. She has performed other treatments on me and I just adore her.

What exactly is a IPL Photofacial Treatment?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It helps reduce redness, lessen the appearance of pigmented spots, reduce pore size and improve texture. The IPL delivers high intensity pulses of broadband light to the deeper parts of the skin. It does not damage the surface of the skin.

During the treatment, a cooling cream/gel is applied to the face and then a pulse of light is emitted from the technician’s “laser” handpiece. The light pulses are continuously applied to the areas that need treating. This isn’t a relaxing facial experience. With each pulse, you feel a snap on the skin. Some say it feels like a rubber band snapping the face. I thought it felt like a hot burning sensation. The good thing – it only lasts about 20 minutes.

When finished all of your dark spots on your face are more pronounced and you feel like you have a slight sunburn. Over the next few days your dark spots will get darker until they shed.

Some people have to go through 3 or more treatments to see ideal results.

I had my IPL on Wednesday and took pictures of my face the next morning. The spots are definitely darker than prior to the treatment. I am already seeing a huge improvement and it’s only been three days.

I will keep you posted on my improvement. I look forward to being free of my sun spots.

I highly recommend visiting Transcend Medi Spa. They are located in Hudson, WI. So, for you Eastsiders, it’s perfect. Like I said, I adore Laurie, the owner. She is extremely passionate about what she does and caters to each client.
